Jeanina Hardman Miller - Migration Studies
Jeanina Hardman Miller was the recipient of ISF’s Department Citation Award in 2010. Coupled with a minor in Spanish, her ISF concentration culminated in an honors thesis titled “U.S. Guest Worker Programs: Agricultural Exceptionalism, the U.S. Labor Market, Enforcement, & Globalization. After graduation, Jeanina volunteered in a technical high school in Antofagasta, Chile through a Chilean Ministry of Education and United Nations Development Program initiative. She subsequently served as an AmeriCorps Fellow in San Francisco Superior Court’s ACCESS Center, which provides self-help services and legal information to self-represented litigants. Following completion of a yoga teacher training in Berkeley, CA she held a number of positions in nonprofit, corporate, and hospitality settings in San Francisco and Boston, MA, before working as Executive Assistant to the Chief Medical Officer at Saint Francis Healthcare in Wilmington, Delaware. Jeanina has traveled to twenty-one countries and recently served as International Service Coordinator for a gap year program that sent volunteers to Peru, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and the Philippines.
Jeanina is now pursuing a Masters of Science degree in Occupational Therapy at Columbia University’s Medical Center. She is looking forward to promoting the physical and mental well-being and independence of her future patients, as well as promoting access to healthcare for Spanish-speaking populations. ISF gave Jeanina the tools and confidence to proactively discover an intellectually stimulating and emotionally fulfilling field that incorporates many of her professional interests
