Commencement ceremonies are held in May. Students completing requirements during the spring semester or summer semester or the preceding fall semester are welcome to participate. Majors should meet with their ISF faculty advisor at least three months before the May ceremony to ensure they have met all of their major requirements for graduation. See the UGIS Commencement web site for more information.

Declaring Candidacy (Adding to the Degree List) in spring 2017

 This is new, important information about the Spring 2017 degree list, graduation, Commencement, and important deadlines.
 
All students: please look carefully at your Cal Central portal under both Dashboard and Academics and see if you have a message that reads "Eligible for Graduation - Spring 2017" or "Spring 2017 is your final term" under "Notifications" on the top right. 
 
If you DO see this notice but are NOT graduating at the end of Spring 2017, you will need to OPT OUT of the degree list. Please read and carefully follow the detailed instructions for OPTING OUT of the Spring 2017 Degree List at Graduation on the L&S Office of Undergraduate Advising website. 
 
If you do NOT see this notice and you ARE graduating at the end of Spring 2017, you will need to OPT IN to the Spring 2017 Degree List by March 10, 2017 To do this, please see Graduation on the L&S Office of Undergraduate Advising website and print, complete and submit the Degree List Add fillable form*** Please carefully follow the instructions on the form.***
 
The UGIS departmental Commencement ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, 20179-11 am, at the Greek Theatre. If you graduated in Fall 2016 or plan to graduate in Spring 2017 or Summer 2017 or Fall 2017, you can participate in the Commencement ceremony. Please note that being on the degree list is totally separate from registering for Commencement;  if you want to participate in Commencement, you must register for the ceremony.
